I found love in a hopeless place, while staying at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas. “They Called Her Styrene” by Ed Ruscha is the lover who stole my heart, and it is a visual masterpiece. After getting down with Social Media types at a Womma Conference opening after party last night I came across this book in the suite, it had me at hello.

Episode 44:Real House Music… Chicago Style
This is one of the best house sets out there right now, embodying the original feel and spirit of house music’s home and my home Chicago, Il. I’ve begun to start my day with it each morning. One hour of soul quenching beats. Hell yeah! I mean how could you not have a joyous day with a harmonious start like this?! When the music builds and “I’m addicted to drums and I’m a slave to the dark beat” blares I mean really, how does it get any better than this?
I love Life, I love Las Vegas, and I love living My Life in Las Vegas. For Life is Las Vegas, one big gamble.
In Life, like Las Vegas… regardless of your best intentions, the best laid plans, the sure shot, the no brainer, the counted cards ready to grant you 21…those counted cards, like plans, crash, implode and burn. You bust like a motherfucker. Knocked on your ass, like a Mayweather cheap shot. Licking your wounds, pissed off, ego bruised, just salty.
And just like Vegas, in Life… one second you’re riding high in April and shot down in May. Yet with all great risk Read the rest of this entry
“Art In Nature” A Portland International Airport Art Exhibit
To me, airports are magical. They are a portal to adventure, freedom and escape. Art embodies the same meaning to me. Transporting me to new worlds, sparking my creativity and imagination just as traveling does. So when you combine the two, airports and art, it’s a mash up made in heaven.
I have a great fascination with airport art, as it embodies the charter of its city, representing the influences of its people and history. Nothing pleases me more, then as I make my way through the airport, amongst all the hustle and bustle and find hidden in plan sight magnificent artwork.
I love Alaska Airlines I really do. It is by far the best domestic airline period, however I find these biblical quotes a bit unsettling. Yeah, Virgin America is great; sexy, hip and cool; but they don’t have the perks and partnerships frequent flyers like me require.
I first noticed this three years ago upon becoming an MVP
member and began to receive the wonderful first class upgrades. Luckily as my travels have increased, I’ve had the with privilege of first class upgrades on other airlines, yet I haven’t come across this. At first, I though Alaska Airlines was a private company, which would in my rational explain away the Psalms quotes but alas they aren’t. Alaska Air is a publicly traded company, and generally publicly traded companies try to maintain neutral viewpoints, as views and beliefs are attached to the bottom line.
Traveling has given me so much. Unbelievable adventures, new friends, massive self-discovery and its expanded my horizons, opening my eyes to the struggles of others.
In this mad and crazy world we live in, it’s easy for us in our daily lives to forget about our blessing, focusing on what is lacking rather than what we have. I find the practice of giving back to others not only helps me realize all that I am grateful for; it also brings me great joy.
We’re all in this world together and I believe that if we all help one another, we’ll make this world a better place. Reach one teach one, pay it a back, pay if forward, let’s appeal to our better angels and help.
Here are a few of my favorite organizations around the globe and here in US whose work inspires me. Check them out, and if inspired…GIVE Someone’s gotta! So why not you! Read the rest of this entry
One of the main reasons I love traveling, is the constant feeling of renewal and discovery I have each time I arrive to a new city, or one I haven’t fully explored. Knowing that an undiscovered world awaits me, I love nothing more than grabbing a map (I also use iPhone “maps”… I’m old school and need something tactile too) a coffee and hitting the streets ready for adventure. There is no better way to discover a city than by using it’s mass transit system. Now taking public transit where I reside is another story, (a story of not happening) but travel is about expanding, so I go.
With map in hand, iPod in ear and feelings of enthusiasm adventure and fear, I journey into the heart of these cities. New York to Chicago, Tokyo to Hong Kong, San Francisco to London and beyond, I’ve discovered new sides and character of these cites and myself immersing myself in local sites off the beaten tourist path.
